About
The See What I Mean app is a speech to image communication tool for people living with dementia, their carers and family members. Dementia creates distinct challenges in how people express themselves and understand what is being communicated to them. Losing this ability to communicate results in deteriorating health, social isolation, and depression. Communication is challenging because words can become hard to understand, whereas images often retain their meaning and can communicate more clearly or emotionally than words. The SWiM iPad app turns the words you say into images to harness the power they have to aid communication, stimulate memories and discussion by bringing them into the moment of a conversation. Allowing people to save and build collections of both public and personal images that relate specifically to an individual that become more important in supporting that person as their dementia progresses.
